All But The Coffee Pot

I feel like our kitchen is finally complete. Yes, the remodel is done! I still need to purchase a new coffee maker that is black and new to replace our 1970's white/yellow one. I hope the new one we get can last as long as our 1970's coffeemaker. We love the tile and feel that it just puts the perfect finish on the kitchen. Now... it's time to cook!

Have Patience, Have Patience....

I started our new kitchen remodel in July, then August came and went, September came and Labor Day Weekend was the big day! Oh yes, the big day started and stopped. So, September came and went, October is here and the cabinets are up and it's looking so nice. No counter tops ---that's not exactly true. They brought the counter tops out on Friday - October 1 -- they were the correct color - Black--- but that's the only thing that was correct. So, tomorrow, I'll be talking to the counter top man about remaking my 2 small counter tops so that they have the correct edge and fit. So... I've learned a lot and will continue to have patience.... Hopefully, I'll have a beautiful new finished kitchen to cook Thanksgiving Dinner in. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. We have lovely tile sitting in boxes on the floor, waiting until all the counters are done so Jack our tile contractor can come and do our back splash. I'm developing a new facet to my character.

Danny's Favorite Breakfast

Well, I stumbled upon this recipe, and it was an immediate hit with Danny.
I hope you enjoy it as well.

SASSY SOUTHERN BREAKFAST BAKE

1 - 1 lb. breakfast sausage
2 cans chopped green chili's
2 1/4 C. water
1 t. salt
3/4 C. quick grits
2T. butter
2T. flour
1/4 t. black pepper
1 C. milk
2 C. shredded cheddar cheese
4 large eggs

Brown and crumble breakfast sausage, when browned set aside on paper towel to drain.
When grease free, put back into skillet and add green chili's and combine.
(I used turkey breakfast sausage and it was delicious)
While sausage is browning, bring sated water to boil in saucepan.
Stir grits into boiling water.
Cover and reduce to low heat. Cook 5 minutes, stirring once or so.
In small saucepan melt butter, add flour and stir until no lumps are visible.
Add pepper, and slowly stir in milk and cook until thick.
Add cheese and cook on low until blended.
Add drained sausage and 1/2 of the cheese sauce to cooked grits.
Pour into greased 9 X 13 casserole dish.
Make 6 dents in top of grits ingredients.
Break egg into each hole.
Bake 350 degrees until the eggs are no longer runny.
Bake approximately 20-25 minutes.
Serve with remaining cheese sauce or cream gravy.
Serves 6 large servings.
Garnish with chopped fresh tomatoes and avocados.
